84S is an easy calving, low maintenance bull that has a perfect disposition and is very slick haired. This bull is ideal for producing females suitable for the heat and humidity of the South.
“One of B571’s greatest sons, we bought 84S from Red Hill Farms in 2008 for $8,100. In February 2011, 25% interest of 84S sold to Ozark Hills Red Angus and Calvo Family Red Angus for $30,000. This past December, the 13 sons in our sale averaged over $6,000. 84S is one of the premier, proven calving ease sires in the breed, with an excellent spread from birth to yearling. Moderate in size, well-muscled and extremely correct, with excellent feet, legs, and testicles, and he has an exceptionally quiet disposition. He epitomizes what the breed is about and is without doubt, a true herd builder.” Buffalo Creek Red Angus, February 2012 ARA Magazine.
Rick Calvo notes the tremendous pasture breeding skills of 84S. At Calvo’s Ranch in Nebraska, 84S bred 88 out of 90 females in 50 days. He would breed a cow and move on to the next. This is a testament to the libido, structural correctness, and fertility of 84S.
84S is one of the most widely used bulls in the Red Angus breed that is not in a major AI stud, currently having over 1,150 progeny in the Red Angus database. He has been used successfully in numerous herds across the country.
We cannot make enough positive comments about this cow family. Click here to learn more!

215C, 220C and 231C are 3 flush brothers from the best flush ever at Red Hill – seven flushmate heifers are being retained. The problem-free phenotype of these bulls and heifers along with their superior performance and genetic values led us to call this 84S x Nice’n Easy mating the “Royal Cross” of the Red Hill program. The dam, 190W, does everything right – fertility, adaptability, disposition and udder quality along with fantastic rib shape and body volume which makes her a very easy-fleshing cow. These bulls are linebred to our great Beckton cow, M554. These bulls represent the Red Hill program from the standpoint of disposition, soundness of feet and legs, body volume and slick hair. There are fall 2017 calves sired by 215C and 220C as well as spring 2018 calves by all 3 bulls. These are truly calving ease bulls, and the calves show excellent vigor at birth.

Buffalo Creek Nice ‘N Easy T189 was our pick of the bulls in the November 2008 Buffalo Creek Sale. We purchased T189 with our cooperator herd, Coyote Hills. T189 is sired by BUF CRK Medallion N328, a bull whose progeny have adapted and performed exceptionally well in the Coyote Hills herd in Kentucky. T189’s dam is simply an outstanding Beckton Julian GG B571 daughter with an exceptional production record. Click here for more information about T189’s dam, P154.
Prior to the Buffalo Creek Sale, we were able to find P154 in one of the huge pastures at Buffalo Creek thriving on dry grass, and in respectable body condition for a young cow that had been so fertile and productive. She also had small teats and an apparent problem free udder. Two years later when we attended the Buffalo Creek dispersal, we purchased P154. We believe she was the best cow offered in the sale for the type of cattle we like. T189’s maternal granddam, 9005, had averages of 105 WR, 106 YR and a MPPA of 104.6 on 10 natural calves before going into the Buffalo Creek Transplant program.
T189 puts together an unusually strong combination of convenience and cow efficiency traits on both sides of his pedigree. T189 is also outstanding from a phenotypic standpoint. He is a very moderate framed, structurally correct bull with tremendous width of chest, spring of rib and body volume. Out in the pasture with a large group of cows here in KY, T189 exhibits excellent overall balance as he moves over the hills. We like the way that T189 has performed on fescue since coming to Kentucky, maintaining or gaining body condition while running with cows during the breeding season. To add to T189’s uniqueness, watch his video. This video was taken in early February 2013 when he was removed from 40 Fall calving cows. His ability to get the cows bred and maintain excellent flesh is unique. We have learned the importance of short, slick-haired cattle that thrive on fescue. This video shows how T189 has little to no hair in the middle of winter. T189’s daughters and granddaughters will be the backbone of our herd for many years to come. These females excel in udder quality and are consistently producing at the top of their respective contemporary groups. Their udder quality, docility and fleshing ability make these T189 daughters favorites of visitors to Red Hill.

176A is our choice of T189 sons produced to date. He was a standout in every phase of production. He was used naturally at Red Hill Farms in the fall of 2014 and bred extremely well in the pasture. 176A excels in all performance traits in addition to having excellent structural soundness and adaptability to our fescue environment. 176A is a little larger framed compared to his sire but very balanced and eye appealing in his design. We have used 176A heavily in our breeding program. His first calves were quite popular in our 2017 sale, and his first daughters are now in production. The 176A daughters are moderate, easy-fleshing females with excellent udders and great dispositions. 176A daughters are the kind to make Red Angus the breed of choice for heifer production!
176A’s dam, 182W, has produced four exceptional calves – an 84S daughter we retained, an 84S son that was the top selling bull in 2014, 176A and a bull selling in 2016 sired by 157Y. Her ratios are BW 4/102, WW 4/105 and YW 4/105. 182W was flushed in the fall of 2016 – watch for many more progeny in the future.
176A is owned with B Lazy T Ranch (SD), Grill Cattle Company (SD), and Fick Red Angus (NE). SEMEN AVAILABLE

271B was retained at Red Hill because of his unique pedigree, slick hair coat, and calf disposition along with balance in phenotype and performance. We had not kept a Red Angus bull in several years for our own use, but we decided the time was right with this young prospect. As most observers of our program have noticed, we have used several Beckton bulls over the years. After intensively studying the sires at Beckton’s, we identified S107 as a bull that had some intangible traits that might benefit our breeding program – short and slick hair, extra rib and body, good feet and calm dispositions. We chose to sample him in our program. S107 sired some very nice sons and daughters, but it was not until this second generation that we found an S107 bred bull to use more heavily in our program. 271B is linebred to Beckton Julian 7526—he traces back to 7526 fourteen times (eight on the top of his pedigree and six on the bottom).
As scan time approached in the fall of 2015, 271B caught the eye of Bart and Gordon. He displayed exceptional feet and design with extra thickness and dimension. He was first out of 15 contemporary bulls for %IMF while being above average for REA and Yearling Weight. His hair is short and testicles are excellent.
271B’s sire, 190Z, is an S107 son that sold in our 2014 sale to L. J. Watson (KY). We had used 190Z the fall prior to the sale to clean up our Red Angus heifers. 190Z’s dam is the only daughter of LT142 in the Red Hill herd. She is from our popular and productive Barmaid cow family and has consistently weaned above average calves.
271B’s dam, 195Z, is an S107 daughter that is a light-colored cow with a nice udder. She had 271B as a two-year-old and calved in the fall of 2015 as a three-year-old. Calving interval of 354 days. 195Z has been selected as a Red Hill donor. 195Z’s dam, 204X, has calved regularly and produced four heifers retained by Red Hill. She is also from the same cow family as RHF-CCCH P707 Nebula 1A, a bull used for two seasons at Red Hill and co-owned with Holman and Rogers (NC).
At Red Hill we see the importance of collecting all the data, all the time. The more we collect, the more we are excited about the impact 271B can have on our program.

We have received many calls about 190A. Search the database for important traits, and this one will surface time and time again.
We wanted to add some variability for high growth and high marbling and chose to use Ten X in our program. For this project we picked a B571 daughter with flawless phenotype. 104U is extremely stout and as you can see from the Red Angus cow pages, she kicks out herd bulls. 190A has been used naturally and AI and our first calves were born in the fall of 2015. We have used him selectively but expect big things from this sire. We realize that many of our Red Angus customers who focus on low inputs may think that the output numbers here may be too much. However, we believe this bull has a place with the customers who are serious about retaining ownership and pushing for cattle that excel on the rail.
Study 190A’s breed percentiles. He is not just in the top quarter but in the top 1% for several traits!

AAR Ten X 7008 SA was chosen because of marbling, docility and the fact that the Ten X cattle were not “out of bounds” for frame size and $EN. 104U, the granddam of 9D, is arguably one of the most outstanding phenotypic and genetic packages ever at Red Hill. The cows on the bottom of the pedigree trace to the B571 daughter, BUF CRK Amber N379, the dam of our 1A herd bull and the outstanding 204X cow. 49D puts together a unique genetic and phenotypic package. 49D ranks in the top 1% of the breed for both HB and GM indices – quite impressive.49D is a moderate-framed, thick-made, easy-fleshing bull that is slick haired and has a calm disposition.
We have just calved several heifers and cows that were bred to 49D. All have calved unassisted, and the calves have excellent vigor at birth. We are very pleased with the young calves sired by this bull.

9B is being used at Red Hill to intensify the genetics of BUF CRK Redpride P154. We believe this B571 daughter could be the most influential B571 daughter in the breed. Her son, T189, is making his mark at Red Hill, and we believe 9B is positioned to make his mark on our breeding program. 9B is the result of mating P154 to U199. This flush produced two other top end bulls we sold and two daughters we retained in our herd.
9B has a standout phenotype. He is balanced with extra rib and body and is sound footed. His data is just as balanced – ranking near the top of the breed for multiple traits. Based on his pedigree, 9B should sire daughters with excellent udders.
9B is owned with Dan and Justin Vinton (NE).

28U was one of the top bulls produced at Red Hill Farms. If you believe in smaller, more efficient cows – this bull is the real deal. 28U is stacked for generations of low maintenance, efficient cattle. 28U sold in the February 2011 Buffalo Creek sale for $13,000.
28U is a model for the traits that drive profitability – calving ease, moderate growth, and excellent values for ME, HPG, CEM and STAY.
One of the most interesting observations about 28U is that every customer that bought semen on him three or four years ago is now calling back wanting more. The most common comment is that his calves are born easy and then in a couple months they are the thickest, chunkiest calves in the field.

This bull represents a near ideal model of phenotype and performance for us at Red Hill. We used 132Y extensively in our fall 2012 breeding-both naturally and AI. We have continued to use him each breeding season. 132Y is double bred to our foundation dam, M554, and combines our two expert bulls for forage conversion-13R and T189. 132Y’s dam, 190W, calved at the beginning of the calving season in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. She has a beautiful udder and perfect disposition. 190W has progeny averages of BW 4/98, WW 4/107, YW 4/109, 105 MPPA, IMF 4/103 and REA 4/109. 190W entered the Red Hill donor program in the Fall of 2014. Click here for more information on 190W.
132Y’s progeny exhibit excellent phenotype – excelling for overall balance, center body thickness and moderate size with excellent structural correctness. 132Y sons have been well received by our customers. With limited or no semen available on 132Y, we have chosen Red Hill 132Y Ripper 69B to carry on this Ripper line. Check him out below and watch for more 132Y sons in the next few calf crops.

69B offers so many unique breeding possibilities. How can you better describe efficiency than describe what his dam, X072, did with him? 69B was born 12% lighter than average and weaned 12 percent above average with a weaning weight of 620 pounds while his dam, X072, only weighed 944. WOW! X072 is building quite the record—BW 4@90, WW 4@105 and YW 4@103. Some of the other attributes that truly make 69B unique are his natural body width, large testicles, calm disposition and all this added performance in a very moderate package.

45C was our favorite bull from the sampling of Brown Premier X7876, and he was the top selling bull in our Spring 2016 Sale going to Jerry Leake (KY). Jerry has a fall calving herd, so 45C was leased for clean-up duties at Red Hill in the spring of 2016. 45C’s dam is a moderate, easy-fleshing cow with a beautiful udder, and the granddam is a B571 daughter from Buffalo Creek. This bull offers a strong profile of maternal and carcass traits while being in the top 6% of the breed for calving ease.

224A is an exciting project at Red Hill. Our goal in this breeding project was to keep the moderate size and easy fleshing traits our Red Angus cattle are known for while adding marbling. 224A has these unique qualities, and we believe his progeny could be big changers for grass finishing customers. His top 1% marbling and ribeye area set him apart, but his extreme calving ease and low maintenance coupled with these carcass traits are what make him special.
In addition to 224A’s outstanding data, his phenotype is pleasing. He is moderate in his stature, good footed and calm in his disposition while possessing extra volume and rib.
224A has paternal half sibs that have calved, and we are impressed with their mothering ability and extremely pleased with their udder quality and teat size.
224A’s dam, M172, was our second pick of the cows from the Buffalo Creek dispersal. She has positive progeny ratios with a unique data set. Learn more about her on our foundation female page.

17P excels in his ability to moderate frame, spread the data from birth to yearling, add thickness, and combine all of this with breed leading CEM and STAY. Even more impressive than 17P’s ability to sire outstanding performance is the consistency with which he sires moderate framed, thick, easy-fleshing cattle.
17P’s dam, Shady’s MS Marias 283, was one of the best cows in our herd – 8 calves Avg BW 81 pounds, 6 calves WWR 110, 4 calves YWR 113. In addition to being a very fertile female, 283 was large-volumed, heavy-muscled, and one of the most structurally correct mature cows at Red Hill. A strong attribute of 283 was her ability to thrive on typical fescue pastures–it certainly appears she may have had some genetic resistance to the fescue endophyte. 283 and her 2011 calf were killed by lightning in June 2011.

157Y was the third top selling bull in our 2013 sale. He was a favorite of sale attendees and was purchased by Sustainable Genetics (GA). 157Y is a thick, bold sprung bull that is huge ribbed and deep flanked. He also strides well on an outstanding set of feet.
157Y’s dam is a flush sister to our popular herdsire, 84S.
We used 157Y at Red Hill. His calves have been small at birth with good vigor. We feel 157Y is unique in his data for the very important maternal traits – CE, ME, HPG, CEM, and STAY.

1A was a triplet brother to a pair of heifer calves. We sold the fall pasture rights to 1A in our 2014 sale and have used 1A in the spring of 2014 and 2015. His first calves were born in 2015, and his first daughters calved in the spring of 2017. 1A daughters are making a nice contribution to our cow herd. 1A has a unique data set with breed leading calving ease, stayability and marbling. Additionally, we chose to use 1A due to his short slick hair, excellent feet and leg structure and a very quiet disposition. 1A’s dam, N379, is from the famed Amber cow family from Buffalo Creek. We have several descendants of N379 working in the Red Hill herd, including the dam of our newest herdsire, 271B.
1A is owned with Rogers Cattle Company (NC) and Hardrock Beef Cattle (NC).
